Kitchen Design company Griggs and Mackay commissioned two large worktops for this kitchen refurbishment in Henley on Thames. At 2.6m x1.6m for the feature island and 4.1m x 600mm for the main worktop, this was a heavyweight installation and careful planning and handling was a key element of this project.  

The survey and templating had to account for a large overhang of quartzite on the end of the island. Working with the designers, AF Jones Interiors provided a three-pronged fan-shaped metal support on the underside of the overhang, obviating the need for visible and unsightly leg supports.

It was an end-to-end production challenge yet worth the result. Blue Jeans quartzite was the chosen material and the Leathered finish with blue veins provided a clean light finish to the kitchen. This durable but very hard to cut material was delivered on site to a restricted access approach requiring careful planning and delicate execution and installation.
